Green is probably the most popular word nowadays in the automotive industry and carmakers are every once in a while talking about green as they go forward with their plans to launch hybrids, electric vehicles or just fuel efficient models. According to the latest "greencar monitor" report published by TNS, SEAT is the greenest brand in Spain in the January - October 2010 period as it has the biggest number of sold cars with emissions of 130 grams of CO2 per km or less.
"These figures prove the Spanish brand’s dedication to preserving the environment by manufacturing cars with an increasingly lower carbon footprint," the Spanish manufacturer said in a statement when using the occasion to underline the efforts it does to protect the environment.
SEAT Ibiza took first place in the model standings with a total of 24,047 sold units that go below the 130 g/km milestone, while the Spanish brand leads the chart with a total of 42,029 units. Other SEAT models are also included in the statistics, such as the Leon, with 10,380 units, the Altea XL with 4,224 units and the Altea with 3,378 units.
"The report reveals an interesting fact – one out of every two SEAT models registered features an emissions level below 130 g/km, and in the case of the Ibiza, seven out of every ten units registered are ‘greencars’," the brand that calls itself "the most ecological on the market" explained in the press release it issued after the report was released.
