Nice accomplishment for BMW as their S1000RR machinery went past the 224 mph (360.4 km/h) mark at the speed trials held at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats.
Andy Sills of Hunter Sills Racing rode a San Diego BMW Motorcycles-prepped S1000RR and was clocked at 224.190 mph (360.721 km/h). Needless to say, Andy added one more record to his roster, and his bike became the fastest BMW motorcycle in the world.
Sills was accompanied by his team mate, Erin Hunter. Together they achieved 20 world and national landspeed records aboard a huge variety of motorcycles, from the 215 HP, S1000RR which recently made history down to 50cc streamliners.
We're really wondering how would an S1000RR-based rocket look like and how fast would it go. Still waiting for the 400 mph Triumph...
