If you thought that motorsport fans are the only ones who are dreaming of going ever faster at the Bonneville salt flats, you were a bit off: the bicycle world has its own pioneers and they're chasing the same dream.
It's the case of London-based Donhou Bicycles and their custom two-wheeler... which did in excess of 100 mph (160 km/h) on human power alone. The bike was made from the same tubing Donhou uses for their customers' bikes, only it was stripped of all unnecessary parts and got a revised architecture to comply with the high speed.
Having teamed up with Royce and carefully designing and finely tuning each component, Donhou managed to bring the bike to 80 mph (under 129 km/h) on the road. The weather conditions and the lack of a longer airstrip made these awesome pioneers attempt to beat this new land speed mark indoors on rollers.
The results were spectacular, to say the least: 102 mph (164 km/h), again, on a man-powered bicycle. Given the scale of their success, we're happy to see the team already thinking about improving their performance.
Really, there hardly are suitable words to express how cool such guys are. Enjoy the video!
