Saab 9-5 to Be Revised in 2011

The new Saab 9-5 is the first soldier that has come to fight for the Swedish automaker’s re-establishment. Saab is keen to offer the car an aura of perfection. The company has taken into consideration the fact that certain parts of the vehicle don’t raise to its premium car standard and is now working to improve the model, as whatcar reports.

The vehicle’s interior will be revised in order to match the level of quality and ergonomics offered by German rivals belonging to the Audi, BMW and Mercedes brands.

The Swedish company’s global product boss told the aforementioned source that the modifications will also target the suspension of the vehicle. This will be tweaked in order to offer more comfort and an enhanced handling at the same time.

The changes are expected to be introduced next year, when the 9-5 range will welcome the SportCombi (estate) model.

The introduction of higher-quality components is part of a more complex plan that will see Saab re-evaluate its component suppliers that were inherited from General Motors.

Last month, Saab announced that the 2011 Model Year will see the 9-5 receive three new powerplants: a diesel one, a petrol one and an ethanol-capable one.

Oil-burning fans can be happy, as the vehicle will be available with a 2.0 liter turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 190 hp and a peak torque of 400 Nm. The new petrol engine will be added via the company’s new partnership with BMW. This will bring a turbocharged 1.6 liter (180 hp and 230 Nm) to the game, offering the range a new entry level unit. The 9-5 will also be available with a 2.0 liter turbocharged BioPower engine that can run on ethanol, gasoline, or any combination of the two and produces 220 hp & 350 Nm of torque.
