Saab 9-5 Cabrio Study Released

Oh, how we wish we had an official press release to accompany this news. But we don’t. The adjacent rendering of a convertible incarnation of Saab’s 9-5 model comes from an unknown photoshop artist and has been published by SaabsUnited.

As you can see, we are dealing with a large convertible that offers a generous interior space, being able to offer seating for four adults. The vehicle comes with a classic soft-top and has a raked and slim windscreen that gives it an extremely dynamic profile.

This is nothing but pure fantasy, but the 9-5’s platform could give birth to niche models in the future. As we previously reported, the Swedish Automotive producer is considering offering a third model that would accompany the sedan, which has already been introduced to the market, and the station wagon version, which has been conformed but has not been revealed yet.

We are talking about a CC (Combi Coupe) model, that would remind us of the five-door Saab 900 model, which was a star back in 1978. The vehicle would be aimed at a niche segment. However, it wouldn’t be an entirely new segment, as this is already populated by German competitors, such as the BMW 5 Series GT and the Audi A5 Sportback.

The Saab 9-5 Combi Coupe isn’t expected to hit the market until 2014, so we have enough time to dream about the vehicle’s interesting shape.

Getting back to the 9-5 Cabriolet, we can’t help ask Saab’s new Chief of Design, Jason Castriota, to at least draw an official sketch of the car.
