Roush Mustang JDM Drag Car Runs the Quarter Mile in 9.6s

Back in August, Roush Performance introduced a new Roushcharger for the Ford Mustang’s fresh 5.0 liter V8 engine, offering tuning enthusiasts a new toy to play with.

It seems like the Roush’s superchargers can be quite useful if you’re one of those who just can’t help taking part in big-name drag racing competitions. Roush Performance tells us that Jim D’Adore III from JDM Engineering has really made full use of the supercharger’s potential on the drag strip.

D’Adore was busy putting a 2011 Roush Mustang through its paces in the NMRA Drag Racing competition all season and managed to climb to the top of the Super Stang championship’s podium. Using the Roushcharger’s hefty boost, the vehicle managed to play the quarter mile game in the 9.9 second range @138 mph.

The racer said that the engine was running on 17 pounds of boost, but the wanted to prevent the vehicle from braking the 10 seconds barrier for the race season, as this is the legal limit for the roll cage.

Subsequently, the vehicle has been gifted with a larger balancer pulley that generated 20 psi of boost. This could be translated into a gain of 40 hp, with the vehicle now packing over 700 hp.

Of course, all this muscle means that the vehicle will take the sprinting game to a new level. The team predicted that it won’t take long before the ‘Stang posts a quarter mile time in the 9.65 second range @140 mph.

Our say: This reminds us of the “Win on Sunday, Sell on Monday” principle, one of the best marketing moves in history, if you ask us.
