I follow many specialized van conversion companies. There's one company that keeps pouring out conversions like there's no tomorrow: Rossmonster. Rossmonster specializes in camper vans and truck campers, and there isn't a week that goes by without the company presenting a new build. Its latest project is a converted Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 144" with a 4x4 drive.
Rossmonster's vehicles are designed to keep you nice and cozy while adventuring in the outdoors. Some builds are extremely off-road-focused, with high-end suspensions and other premium components, while others, like the one I'm checking out today, are meant to be comfortable tiny homes on wheels for weekend adventurers.

Most 144" wheelbase Sprinters are meant to fit one or two people. But Rossmonster's latest creation breaks this mold, as it's designed to accommodate four people, both for seating and sleeping. The main feature that enables this is a pop-top roof – more on it in a bit.

On the outside, this Sprinter rig is finished in an eye-catching blue/grey paint. You won't find any exterior accessories besides the pop-top roof and two flares meant to increase the bedroom space. Oh, a flip-down table mounted into a kitchen counter also technically counts as an outdoor accessory, as it can be extended and used to enjoy a meal or a cup of coffee.

Step inside, and you'll discover, just like in all of the company's projects, a well-designed interior. This unit features Duramax silver upholstered wall panels that match the ceiling, paired with oak flooring and Birch slab door cabinetry. Another notable touch is Slate Paperstone countertops.

Besides fitting quality materials, Rossmonster uses ambient lighting to create a pleasant atmosphere. The ceiling comes with five dimmable LED dome lights, LED strips above and under the overhead cabinets, as well as toe-kick lights.

Unlike other camper builds, this van boasts an open, uncluttered layout, with no partition wall separating the driver's cabin from the living space. I'll start with the front.

Two people will be able to sit in the driver's cabin on the driver's and passenger's swivel seats. As I mentioned, this van can accommodate four people. So, the remaining two can be safely seated on a Freedmann Foldaway bus seat with seatbelts. Whenever it's not in use, this bus seat can be folded toward the wall to make additional room.

Next, we have the kitchen, which is divided into two parts, one on each side of the interior. It features a single-burner induction stove, a 20-inch flip-up countertop extension, a deep sink with an extendable faucet and a removable cutting board insert, and an Isotherm fridge/freezer. By the way, the water you use in the sink will drain into a removable 7-gallon (26-liter) greywater tank housed in a cabinet underneath.

So, where can you store all the personal belongings of four people in such a compact van? Rossmonster devised three enormous overhead cabinets toward the front of the interior, with an additional three above the bed, toward the rear. You also get a huge garage space.

The flares Rossmonster installed enable two taller people to sleep on the fixed bed side-to-side. Moreover, each flare comes with a slide-screen window. Other notable features in the bedroom are two reading lights.

The other two people will sleep in the pop-top roof tent, which, in this case, is made by RRE Global. To get up there, you can use a telescopic ladder stored behind the bus seat. The tent comes with two lights, zipped windows, and a decently sized mattress, which can accommodate two people without them feeling cramped.

Finally, we have the garage space accessible from both inside and outside the rig. In the middle, there's plenty of room to store bulkier items, even skis. On the sides, two enormous black boxes house the van's utility systems.

The one on the left side holds the electrical system. It comprises 510 Ah AGM batteries, a 3,000 W inverter, and a solar charge controller connected to 200 W solar panels on the roof. On the opposite side, you'll discover the plumbing system. It features a 30-gallon (114-liter) freshwater tank, an outdoor shower, and an AquaHot hydronic heat and hot water system, a practical two-in-one solution.

All in all, this is an excellent mobile home with an aesthetically pleasing and practical interior. One of its main perks is that it can house four people, but it has some drawbacks as well. For instance, you don't get a toilet, and you might have difficulty sleeping in the roof tent in colder environments.

However, this is a custom build explicitly made for a customer, so they probably requested the van to be made exactly how it is to fit their needs and wants. If you're interested in having Rossmonster make a custom conversion, you can expect to pay anywhere between $60,000 and $150,000 (€55,325 and €138,311), depending on the features and layout you opt for.
