A bathroom is one of the most sought-after things in a camper van conversion. However, some people feel it takes up too much space that could be occupied by a more useful feature. But there's another solution: devise a hidden bathroom like the one on the camper I'm checking out today.
What we have here is a 2021 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 4x4 with a 170" wheelbase. Vanture Customs, a specialized conversion company based in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, designed and built it. I've covered one of the company's builds here on autoevolution before, and I was impressed by the results.

Starting with the exterior, you'll notice this rig is finished in a stealthy all-black paint. It rides on Method rims wrapped in 35-inch off-road tires. On its side, you'll discover a Fiamma F45S awning mounted on a Camel roof rack, which also holds solar panels. Furthermore, Vanture Customs fitted flares on the sides, thus increasing the bedroom space.

At the rear, you'll find an Owl Van spare tire carrier and an Owl Van Sherpa attachment that allows you to store various gear.

Pop the main door open, and you'll be greeted by a finely designed interior that builds further on the van's dark exterior aesthetic. It features a minimalistic design, blending black cabinetry with a vinyl plank floor, several wooden elements, and white walls and upper cabinets.

The driver's cabin isn't separated from the rest of the living space. Instead, for privacy, a huge 180-degree curtain can be pulled to cover all windows. Moreover, you'll notice the driver's and passenger's seats can be swiveled, and there's a swivel table nearby that can be used from both seats. Above, there's a large headliner shelf for storage.

The next part of the interior is the kitchen, devised on the driver's side. It features a spacious countertop, a Dometic fridge, a vast black sink, some drawers, and four overhead cabinets. One of the cabinets houses the rig's control center, with a SeeLevel tank monitor, controls for a Webasto diesel heater, and a Renogy battery monitor.

A long LED strip runs underneath the cabinets, serving as a striking aesthetic touch. Regarding lighting, the builders installed ceiling puck lights and toe-kick LEDs, all dimmable.

On the kitchen wall, Vanture Customs devised dimmable light switches, four USB ports, and two outlets, and also added a remote for the ceiling Maxxair fan.

The rig's seating area features a slide-out table integrated into the bed frame, a long bench on the passenger side of the interior, and a smaller one on the opposite side, next to the sink. Let's take them one by one, as they hide critical utilities underneath.

The small bench houses the Webasto diesel heater in a compartment and an additional swivel table, but there's still some room left to store stuff. You'll discover the hidden bathroom inside the longer bench, which comes with two separate parts. One stores a portable dry-flush toilet, while the other has a sizeable stainless steel tub with a teak mat.

This van has got you covered if you want to accommodate guests overnight. A person can sleep on the long bench. However, you can also add a tabletop between the short and the long bench to create an additional sleeping arrangement.

To shower, you'll have to connect an included showerhead to the sink. Then, attach a curtain to ceiling hooks, and you're good to go. It's a simple yet ingenious solution – even though it's not as comfortable as a fixed bathroom, it does the job.

And finally, we have the bedroom, which is big enough even for taller people to sleep in. Because of the flares and the side-to-side arrangement, even those who are 6'4" to 6’5" can fit on it. Both flare spaces have LED touch lights with integrated USB ports, perfect for reading before bed and charging your gadgets.

Above, you'll notice four spacious overhead cabinets and Dometic RTX A/C, which will keep you cool during the hottest of days. Vanture Customs made sure to install a powerful electrical system, allowing you to run the A/C for up to 8 hours without worrying about running out of juice.

The rig's garage is accessible from both the inside (through a pass-through door integrated into the bed frame) and the outside (by opening the two rear doors). It offers a ton of storage space in the middle, where you'll also find a sizeable bike tray.

Utility systems occupy the left and right sides of the garage. The electrical system is on the left, consisting of 560 Ah lithium batteries, a 3,000 W inverter/charger, a DC/DC charger, a solar charge controller, and a battery monitoring system.

On the opposite side, the plumbing system features a 27-gallon (102-liter) freshwater tank, a 2.5-gallon (9-liter) water heater, and a SeeLevel water level gauge. Moreover, all the water used in this camper ends up in an under-mounted greywater tank.

All in all, this tiny home on wheels blends aesthetics and practicality into a well-equipped package. The hidden bathroom is the highlight of this rig, but there are plenty of other features that ensure you'll have a comfortable and enjoyable experience, even if you go off-grid.

You're probably curious about pricing. Even though Vanture Customs didn't reveal the exact price for this rig, it seems to be based on the Trailhead, one of the company's standard semi-custom builds. That means the conversion price starts at $55,000 (€50,673).
