Rossi's Test with Ferrari Affected by Rain, Fog

A few people can argue against the fact that Valentino Rossi had plenty of bad luck during this week's projected testing session with Ferrari. The reigning MotoGP champion began his second and last day of testing with the Scuderia on the Circuit de Catalunya venue with high hopes, yet he didn't get to test the Ferrari F2008 for a single lap in the early hours of Thursday.

According to the Italian team's official site, the morning session of the Corse Clienti meeting in Barcelona was heavily affected by fog. Therefore, Rossi was unable to drive around the Spanish track, and will now have one more opportunity to step at the wheel of the car in the afternoon (if the weather improves).

It’s Valentino Rossi’s second day of testing here in Spain behind the wheel of a F2008. Start of the test session slightly postponed, due to thick fog at the Catalan circuit of Montmelo this morning,” said the Ferrari official site.

Yesterday, during his first day of testing on the Spanish venue, it was rain who slightly postponed his morning run, as Rossi even suffered a spin in his early laps due to the slippery track. However, the weather improved in the afternoon and the Tavullia-born rider was able to run an overall 68 laps, with the best time of 1.25.200.

I'm happy. It was a good test, although it was wet in the morning and without grip I had some problems. Fortunately the dried off in the afternoon, I could use the slicks and improve my lap times,” said Rossi yesterday.

The Friday session of the Barcelona meeting will be used by Felipe Massa to test the Ferrari F2008, this being his first outing in an F1 car this year and his last before the testing season that kicks off in early February.
