Side-by-sides are a special breed of vehicles. Far from appealing to all of us, they are the perfect tools for diehard fans of off-roading with a twist, or for hardworking Americans in need of reaching remote places.
The nature of these machines means they are fully equipped to handle rough terrain with ease, while at the same time keeping their occupants as safe as possible. What side-by-sides are not particularly famous for are creature comforts.
That includes sound systems, which are not only not required for off-road adventures, work on the farm, or removing heavy snow, but they oftentimes kind of mess up the whole point of you being alone with your trusty mechanical companion and the great outdoors. But that isn't stopping some from providing such gear.
You all know the Polaris Ranger, a machine described by its maker as the most capable utility task vehicle. Offered in a very large number of variants, depending on intended use, power, and a host of other aspects, the range got a major refresh at the start of the year. As usual, sound systems supplied by Rockford Fosgate are still on the table.
As of this month though a killer sound system that could chase Sasquatch away in a heartbeat is joining the offering. The sound system specialist announced on Tuesday, September 12, the launch of something called Ranger Roof Audio System. That's right, speakers you can mount on you everyday Ranger for "the ultimate outdoor audio experiences."
For the four-seat version of the Ranger the sound system comes with eight speakers and two subwoofers good for 1,500 watts. Extra gear can be set up at the back, thanks to a cap that takes that to a mind-boggling 2,300 watts thanks to an additional four speakers and an amplifier.
To make the offer even more irresistible, cargo lights and a backup camera are also thrown into the mix. The lights can be controlled by means of the Rockford Fosgate Color Optix app, allowing drivers to personalize the light show according to their needs.
Because of the rough environments it's supposed to operate in, the Ranger Roof Audio System can withstand the assault of water, salt, and powerful UV light.
The new tech will be made available for both the two- and four-seat versions of the Ranger. For the smaller one, the price of the Ranger Roof Audio System was set at $4,999.99, while its larger sibling will get it for as much as $7,999.99. There is also the Rear Audio Cap thrown into the mix, and that will be selling for $2,499.99.
Rockford Fosgate says all the new hardware will become available for those willing to try it out as of today. The system will likely be suitable for both new and already-in-use Rangers.
