Last month, we brought you the tale of a Mitsubishi Lance Evo that deserves the "abandoned" tag. The (once a mighty) rally-bred machine had been sitting on a driveway for seven years when one of our favorite supercar collectors, Rob Ferretti, visited it and decided something needed to be done.
As Rob explained, trying to bring such a machine back to life often leads to a financial black hole, so the man didn't promise he'd try to save the Evo.

However, it quickly became obvious that he was going to attempt to bring the machine back from the dead. This is particularly satisfying since we're dealing with an Evo 9. As purists will happily explain, the ninth incarnation of the Lancer Evolution was the last one that stuck to the original recipe of the car.

For one thing, the Evo X moved to a platform it share with the ASX crossover, which made it heavy and, despite the tech advances brought by the generation change, many Evo fans will always prefer the IX.

The idea of bringing the car back to its original sideways-ready state grows even stronger if we considered that the Mitsu reportedly hasn't been in a crash. Instead, the vehicle, which belongs to one of Rob's friends, was the kind of vehicle one tries to turn into a project car.

Driveway confinement aside, this unfortunately meant that a lot of the vehicle's parts are now missing - from the wheels to the soundproofing, this Evo had been stripped according to the original plan that never came to fruition.

Apparently, the owner has received lowball offers, with somebody willing to grab the bare shell for $5,000. So Rob and the "crew" are now trying to start the two-liter turbo of the thing - keep in mind that the Evolution IX was the first generation whose engine received the MIVEC variable valve timing.

The guys grabbed the mandatory new battery and... we'll let the video take over from here.
