Nearly half a decade ago, a man named Zac Mihajlovic decided to build himself a replica of the Batmobile, a road-legal version of the car depicted in the Tim Burton flick of 1989.
Apparently, driving around in it in Australia grew old by now, so Zac decided it’s time for another project. How about building a Ferrari Formula 1 car replica? And not just any replica, but one that is street legal and, most importantly, could be produced for those wanting a machine no one else has.
According to Which Car, Mihajlovic partnered with a supposedly experienced local custom motorcycle builder named Scotty Cox to make the racer a reality. And they plan on building not a concept-car-looking machine like the Ariel Atom, but one that would really look and feel like a Ferrari.
The visual elements are currently being taken care of, as you can see in the photos attached above. As for the engine, to make the car as real as the ones driven by some of the world’s most famous racing drivers, Zac will be using a real Ferrari engine.
Of course, not one of those used on actual Formula 1 cars, but one taken from a written off Ferrari F12.
“The engine puts out around 740 horsepower, and the car should weigh around 700kg without a driver in the car,” Mihajlovic told the source back in August.
“With the straight-cut gearbox you lose almost no power. Maybe with a tank of fuel and a driver it’d be about one-to-one, which is rare for a street car.”
The car is to be called Zacaria, and will sell for a bit more than $1 million. For that, buyers will get the car equipped with a hydraulic lift and a removable front end, so that tricky roads could be navigated without damaging the car.
Mihajlovic said he expects the first Zacaria to be ready by the end of the year.
