ROAD, a Dunlop Family Road Racing Movie Trailer

Road, a Dunlop family racing movie 1 photo
Undoubtedly, the motorcycle road races in England and Ireland are the most fascinating, extreme and most dangerous two- and three-wheeled competitions known to man. Prepare to meet the Road, an exceptional insight in the very heart of one of the most influential road-racer families, the Dunlop family.
Road follows the lives and achievements of two pairs of brothers: Robert and his legendary brother Joey, and Michael and William, sons of the former and themselves road-racers of Isle of Man fame. The movie premiered at the Belfast Film Festival and will be released in the UK on June 11, just after the end of the 2014 Isle of Man Tourist Trophy which takes place right now, by the way.

The movie is a tribute to the amazing road racing heritage the elder Dunlop brothers have left to the world, and a present testimony that racing genes do pass to the offspring. Joey Dunlop is the undisputed road-racing king, having won no less than 26 TT races until his untimely death in 2000 in an 125cc race in Tallin, Estonia. His younger brother Robert, a 5-time winner in the Isle of Man TT also died after a crash aboard a small-displacement motorcycle in the North West 200 practice in 2008, approaching Mather’s Crooss chicane area. His son and fellow rider Michael went on to win the race and dedicate the victory to his father. Later in the evening, Robert Dunlop died in the hospital.

The legacy of the elder Dunlops is carried on by William and Michael, with the latter having already hiving clawed 7 TT wins. Even more, Michael won 4 of the 5 main events in 2013 and was awarded the Joey Dunlop TT Championship Trophy, a prize which goes to the most successful rider of each TT.

Road is narrated by the actor Liam Neeson, and this adds to the intense drama this “blistering story of the Dunlop road-racing dynasty” will bring on your TV screens. Road can be already pre-ordered via the UK branch of Amazon, both in Blu-ray and DVD format, with a price guarantee.

The 2013 Isle of Man TT in underway these very weeks, with the Race Week taking place between 21st of May and 6th of June. Enjoy the trailer, remember and weep for the late Simon Andrews who lost his life recently in the same North West 200 race.
