Mate Rimac teases an affordable Rimac model on social media and says it will be something special coming this summer. According to the CEO of the hypercar manufacturer, it is going to be a hatchback.
A Rimac hatchback? We have never seen this coming. And most likely, we won't! Rimacs are super-fast, super-expensive, super-limited, and super-exclusive models that come with eye-watering prices. They have always been like that. However, Mate Rimac claims that this is about to change.

He claims that it is going to be the successor of the Yugo. Zastava Yugo was a subcompact hatchback that debuted in 1980 and remained in production until 2008. The Yugo was also sold in the United States between 1985 and 1991. Over 141,000 cars set wheels on American soil back then.

Mate Rimac's caption on Instagram is somewhat contradictory. He says that the company will unveil something special on June 26. However, he tells his followers that the company decided not to let them wait until June. So, here it is. It is a rendering of what he calls a "Yugo successor."

And we are supposed to believe everything. Let's keep in mind that it is April Fool's Day. So, let's take all that information coming from automakers' representatives with a grain of salt today. As for what Mate Rimac posted on Instagram, all the salt in the Dead Sea won't be enough.

Rimac will indeed unveil something special on June 26, but they won't revive the defunct Soviet model. But it surely won't be a modern kind of Yugo. A couple of weeks ago, the CEO almost showed us all the successor to the Chiron but announced that "not yet."

The car has already been shown during an exclusive event to select customers in Miami, Florida, behind closed doors. We, mortals, are set to see the car opening a new chapter in the 116-year history of Bugatti in June.

What we do know about the future model is that it won't be powered by the usual W16. It will come with an 8.3-liter V16 instead, which will be integrated into a hybrid system.

Furthermore, the Bugatti-Rimac CEO disclosed details about the robotaxi project, Mobility P3, that has been in development for the last five years. Market launch for the UK is slated to happen in 2027.

The service will be similar to what Uber is offering right now. However, the car that will come pick up customers will be driving itself.

The P3 robotaxi will be a hatchback. So we can't even blame Mate Rimac for trying to fool us too much.

June sounds like a very busy month for Bugatti Rimac. But it surely won't bring a Yugo revival.
