If you need even more proof to back the ideas in yesterday's coverstory on motorcycle pursuits, here's a recent story from California, Los Angeles area. The reasons for this type of behavior are not known at the moment of writing, but it looks like this was a pure show-off deal. Anyway, a judge will learn more as to this fellows actions as the rider will appear in court.
According to NBC Los Angeles, the "motorcyclist who taunted officers with high-speed antics during an hourlong pursuit through two Southern California counties, performed stunts, flipped off police, took selfies, stood up while riding, and more."

The rider eventually stopped in a gas station and was arrested

After about an hour of playing cat and mouse with the police, the rider, identified as 22-year-old Phillip Resendez of Rancho Cucamonga, pulled over in a gas station in Ontario, CA.

He did not oppose arrest and can be seen already laying on his belly as the cops move in to apprehend him. Sources mention so far charges such as reckless driving, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to yield and running red lights.

And to make things more " interesting" Resendez also seemed a bit distressed: "Did he (police officer) seriously have to try and kick me off my bike?" asked he. With the speed of the fugitive bike sometimes reaching 100 mph (160 km/h) and watching several close calls during the pursuit, it's really lucky that no one got hurt.

Again, was all this really necessary? Cometh EMP guns!
