Remember the Dodge Ramcharger high-rider made for three generations from 1974 until 2001? Well, its name was adapted to fit a contraption that mixes the face of the Challenger muscle car with the body of the Durango SUV.
Called the Dodge Ramchallenger SRT Coupe, it was imagined by tuningcar_ps on Instagram and is a very interesting proposal styling-wise. The model has new headlights and grille lifted from the Challenger, fewer inches between the axles, and a shorter rear overhang.
At first glance, the unofficial redesign and the coupe suffix might trick you into thinking it has two doors. However, there are still four of them. Only the rear ones have a sleeker appearance and hidden exterior handles. Therefore, we think they might feature hinges mounted on the C-pillars.
The black racing stripes applied on the green body and larger alloys with some concavity to them, which sport a six-spoke design, as well as new trim on the front quarter panels round off the makeover – for the most part. We're certainly fans of the model imagined here, and we think it would sell with a few more updates.
But the car firm has no intention of testing the SUV waters with such a proposal. Nonetheless, you could still buy a fast Dodge with generous ground clearance and enough space for the entire family straight from the dealership. We're talking about the 2023 Durango SRT Hellcat, which has an MSRP of $94,605. Topping the family, it sits above the SRT 392, Citadel, R/T Hemi Orange, R/T, GT, and SXT, with the latter being the most affordable of the series by starting at $40,640 with two-wheel drive.
The icing on the cake is the supercharged V8. The 6.2-liter engine pushes out 710 horsepower (720 ps/530 kW) and 645 lb-ft (875 Nm) of torque. The grunt, fast-shifting eight-speed auto ‘box and all-wheel drive allow it to tap out at 180 mph (290 kph). The Durango SRT Hellcat is an 11.5-second vehicle down the quarter mile and is very fast to sixty miles per hour (97 kph), too, as the acceleration is dealt with in 3.5 seconds. If you're keeping track, that's a hair quicker than the Ferrari Enzo.
Featuring seating for six, it weighs 7,100 pounds (3,220 kg), has a 1,590 lbs (720 kg) payload, and an 8,700 lbs (3,945 kg) towing capacity. In terms of performance, it can always take a swing at the super crossover segment comprising models such as the Lamborghini Urus, Bentley Bentayga Speed, Ferrari Purosangue, and Aston Martin DBX 707. Moreover, it can do so without breaking the bank, as while its rivals are much more expensive, the Durango SRT Hellcat knocks on the door of the six-digit price.
But you already knew that so why not take a better look at the rendering shared in the gallery and speak your mind about this inexistent model?
