The Camaro story ended abruptly last month when Chevy pulled the plug on the sixth generation after eight years in production.
You see, most of the time when automakers drop an important model, it is right before or just after they uncover its successor. However, Chevy rolls differently, as the next-gen Camaro is nowhere on the horizon, with the GM-owned brand stating that the nameplate will eventually return.

But in what shape form? It remains to be seen, though if we were to bet on it, we'd say it will remain a competitor to the new-gen Ford Mustang and the upcoming Dodge Charger that's expected at the end of 2024. One way to make it futureproof would be to launch it with both internal combustion engines and battery-electric assemblies.

However, the truth is that no one outside the company knows what it will be all about, and that includes not only the powertrain family but the looks inside and out, platform, technology, and safety features. And we're not talking about blue-collar employees, but those directly involved in its development and high-ranking execs.

For now, the next-gen Chevrolet Camaro story remains a well-preserved secret. In fact, we know nothing about it, and neither does the rendering crowd that has come up with numerous unofficial digital illustrations portraying a supposed successor to the sixth generation. Not all use the Camaro moniker, as some have been privately dubbed the Chevelle.

Chevrolet last used this nameplate back in 1977, so it doesn't make much sense to bring it back from the dead and tie it to a muscle car when the Camaro is a more important moniker. Our latest encounter with a hypothetical 2025 Chevrolet Chevelle remains in the digital world, with A1 Cars on YouTube being responsible for these CGIs.

Likely made with a heavy dose of AI, they portray a very muscly model that looks similar to the discontinued Camaro. In fact, the virtual vehicle looks like a Camaro on steroids, as it features a very muscular design, aggressive lines all around, a bulky hood that would hide a potent engine under it, a sporty rear bumper and diffuser combo, a trunk lid spoiler, and large wheels.

Nothing we haven't seen in one form or another these past few months, only this one brings something new: a folding ragtop. The digital 2025 Chevelle Convertible would take a serious swing at the latest Ford Mustang in this configuration, especially with a mighty V8 engine under the hood, and between us, we are fans of the digital design up to a point. With a few updates, it would look like a great successor to the Camaro, and we think you feel the same, don't you?
