Audi Sport hasn't been offering an RS 6 Sedan since the C6 generation that was made from 2008 to 2011. The C7 and the four-year-old modern-day C8 have only been offered as five-door station wagons. But that is about to change, as the four-ring brand will finally take a swing at the BMW M5 and four-door Mercedes-AMG E 63 again with an executive super sedan.
Instead of naming it the RS 6 Sedan, it will likely be christened the RS 7 Sedan, as Audi will use even numbers on its EVs and odd numbers on vehicles powered by fossil fuels. It should be interesting to see whether the RS 7 Sportback will live on for the next generation, and while there's no official data about it yet, we think it will be killed.

A couple of mules believed to preview the upcoming model were recently caught doing their thing in the open. They mixed the looks of the A6 Sedan and RS 6 Avant, getting fender flares and dual exhaust tips at the rear, riding on concave alloys backed up by beefy brakes. But since these were mules and not actual prototypes, meaning that they use body panels of existing models on top of new underpinnings, the looks cannot be dissected yet.

It packs a plug-in hybrid powertrain that could be reportedly shared with the Porsche Panamera Turbo S E-Hybrid. In its more premium cousin, the twin-turbo V8 and electric motor assembly develop a combined 690 hp (700 ps/515 kW) and 641 pound-feet (868 Nm) of torque, allowing it to hit 62 mph (100 kph) in 3.0 seconds. The current RS 6 Avant's twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 produces 591 hp (600 ps/441 kW) and 590 lb-ft (800 Nm). Mind you, we could be looking at more power compared to the Porsche, and there's a lot of time to adjust every parameter, considering that it's expected to debut in 2025 and arrive stateside for the 2026 model year.

While the RS 7 Sedan is still a couple of years away from being unveiled, or so reports suggest anyway, the current RS 6 Avant was recently turned into an RS 6 Sedan in the rendering world. The digital illustration shared above imagines the car with new headlamps, additional side vent trim in the front bumper, different side skirts, and a proper trunk lid out back. Stuff such as the overall design of the bumper, the grille, the shape of the doors, side mirror caps, wheels, brakes, and everything else carries over from the five-door super wagon. This is an interesting CGI proposal, but if you want to see a genuine RS 6 Sedan that's just as fast as modern-day supercars, you should click this link.
