Renault Megane RS in NFS Shift

Carmakers seem to be using the introduction of their latest contraptions in various video games more and more as a solution for building brand awareness. After Mercedes SLS AMG and Audi e-tron have been announced as part of the GranTurismo 5, French carmaker Renault revealed the new Megane RS will be featured in the ‘Need for Speed: Shift' video game.

The latest addition to the NFS series went on sale on September 17, and the introduction of the Megane RS comes after another model from Renault, namely the Megane Coupe, was incorporated in Need for Speed Undercover, released last November.

“Need for Speed's development team were won over by the looks and performance credentials of New Mégane R.S., and have featured it in the game's line-up of 70 cars which are considered to be the most legendary models of the past three-and-a-half decades,” Renault said in a statement.

Just as expected, the producer also hails the performance of the new car, both in game and in real life because, they say, great care has been taken to replicate the sense of power and the road holding ability of the Megane.

“Need for Speed Shift delivers driving sensations on a par with those felt behind the wheel of the cars themselves, and its unique gameplay features provide players with an unparalleled experience as they embark on a world tour of the planet's most legendary circuits,” the statement concluded.

The new Renault Megan RS has been first unveiled at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show and is expected to go on sale this fall. The manufacturer did not release any information on the pricing yet, but further details are expected to be announced closer to the market launch.
