From the outside, the Clio RS looks like a complex car built for speed. However, many of the components are just tougher versions of the standard ones. In fact, many fans complained that the RS 200 lost the special aluminum front frame and custom flared wheel arches that it used to possess in the 2-liter era.
There are many downsides to using the 1.6-liter turbo. For example, the car becomes less progressive and, most say, less enjoyable to drive. Weight is also negatively affected by the added complexity of the engine and its accompanying DSG-style gearbox.

The upsides are a surge in torque and easier development. The 1.6-liter turbo is now shared with several other models within the Renault-Nissan Alliance, including the Talisman, Qashqai, and Juke.

For some odd reason, Renault chose not to make a Clio RS Gradtour this time, but we believe they will develop one next time. You see, the French automaker has already seen how popular fast estates can be in the main European countries.

While the trolls say the turbocharged RS "sucks," we've noticed a huge surge in demand to the point where there are many times more available in the second-hand market. The current Clio estate has also been more popular than its predecessor, partly because it looks okay, but also because the suspension is among the most supple in the class.

If you put two and two together, you can only come to one logical conclusion: that Renault needs to forget all about RS versions of crossovers and make an RS Grandtour. Maybe people will connect it with Top Gear or maybe they'll pick it over the Megane.

At first glance, the Clio RS is the poorer relative of the Megane GT, having less torque, equipment and especially that all-wheel steering system. But actually, the smaller car is 188 kilograms lighter. Even if you add the estate trunk, it would still offer more space for less weight and money than the Megane GT. So you see, our logic is flawless, and so is this rendering from X-Tomi Design.
