Initially envisioned as the successor of the F-150-based Ford Bronco, the full-size three-row Expedition SUV now coexists with the reinvented sixth-generation mid-size Bronco SUV – and they're both thriving.
One is fighting against the hordes of Jeep Wranglers (it was America's 22nd best-selling nameplate last year with over 156k units) and the old-school ruggedness of the eternal Toyota 4Runner, while the other is wrestling with larger foes like the Chevy Tahoe and Suburban siblings. Interestingly, now that Ford has sent the Ford Mustang GT and Dark Horse across the Atlantic Ocean and its mid-sized Ford Explorer plus Lincoln Aviator were presented home with thorough upgrades, maybe it will have some time to take care of the Expedition, too.

After all, the 2024 Ford F-150 was updated, and now everyone is waiting for the next big move from the direction of the Lincoln Navigator or the Ford Expedition. Now in its fourth generation, the Expedition also comes with an Expedition Max version to make sure it can fight both the Tahoe and Suburban, for example. As such, it is no wonder that the imaginative realm of digital car content creators is doing the rumor mill's job and anticipating the potential introduction of the upgraded 2025 Ford Expedition with cues from the 2024 F-150 refresh and 2025 Explorer.

More precisely, the Halo oto channel on YouTube provides fresh automotive info corroborated with their virtual designs; now, there are new CGI ideas about the upcoming facelift, and the resident pixel master seems intent on depicting a subtle refresh rather than an all-new generation, even though the host is not so sure about it.

Well, do take all these renderings and the associated information with a healthy dose of salt, as nothing is official from the Blue Oval company just yet. However, if we had to swing some educated guesses wildly, the 2025 Expedition favors the mid-cycle facelift procedure a little more than an all-new generation. If that were the case, its exterior design could easily veer towards an F-150 case where the various trim levels have different front fascia treatments.

Meanwhile, inside, we would rather bet on the Explorer treatment with a switch from portrait to landscape orientation for the central touchscreen and the introduction of the all-new Ford Digital Experience infotainment system as the perfect heir for SYNC4. On the other hand, we don't expect any mechanical changes, so that the big SUV could soldier on with the 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 under the hood and the ten-speed 10R80 SelectShift automatic transmission sending the associated oomph to the wheels. As such, it will also keep the 440 hp and 510 lb-ft (691 Nm) power levels it gained along with the 2022 model year upgrades.
