Red Bull Owner Not Fearing Vettel Departure

Red Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz doesn't seem too worried of the fact that he might get to lose Sebastian Vettel in the years to come. In fact, should the reigning world champion fancy a move elsewhere, he will be allowed to do that whenever he wants.

For some time now, Vettel's “love affair” with Ferrari has been made public, with several signals from both parties suggesting that a get-together might happen sooner rather than later. However, no time limit has been set for such a transition, so no reason to panic for Mateschitz.

Whether we 'fear' losing him is not the terminology we would use,” Mateschitz was quoted as saying to the SID news agency. “As long as Sebastian is comfortable with us and has a winning car, he will probably not really think about going elsewhere.”

More, the Austrian billionaire acknowledged the fact that every driver's dream in F1 is to one day race for famous marques such as Ferrari or Mercedes, so there would be no point in prohibiting that to one of his own drivers.

If he tells us one day he wants to go to Ferrari or Mercedes, we would have to understand. There are more mothers with beautiful daughters – we would let him go,” he confirmed.

On the other hand, wanting to keep Vettel so much will not play bad with his teammate Mark Webber, in the sense that both racers will enjoy equal chances at winning the championship in 2011. Although admitting they are different as persons, Mateschitz made it very clear that both Vettel and Webber have what it takes to “win the war” in F1.

Mark's personality is different but he is as good as Sebastian. They are both excellent warriors who can both win the war,” he added.
