Red Bull Advisor Keeps On Blaming Webber

Red Bull's principal Christian Horner and the team advisor Helmut Marko seem to go in different directions following the incident between Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber in the Turkish Grand Prix. The two initially put the blame for Vettel's DNF on the 33-year old Australian, after which Horner came to his senses and tried to repair the situation, saying nobody was at fault for what happened.

The fact that the entire paddock and media agreed the incident was the cause of a stupid mistake from Vettel, not Webber, made Horner do the only normal thing possible, which was trying to get his team to move on and focus on the next race. And, while suggesting that Marko also reviewed all the facts and convinced himself that Webber wasn't guilty of anything, the British manager gave the impression that the Red Bull organization is indeed moving on.

Except that Marko decided to keep the driver management and public relations disaster going and told Speed TV that he still holds Webber responsible for taking out Vettel from the race. And, as if that wasn't enough, he praised Vettel's commitment and morale (unbelievable, right?).

He was getting lap by lap slower, and Vettel was getting faster and was coming under enormous pressure from Hamilton. So if he would have stayed behind Mark, he would have been overtaken. He had to do something. And Mark knew that he was slower, so he should have let him past,” said Marko.

“It's unbelievable how unlucky Vettel is. He showed so much speed, and if you have all these incidents it's unbelievable how strong his morale and commitment still is. To make points in this new points system is the most important thing. And now Vettel has two zeroes,” added the Austrian ex-F1 driver.

Keep in mind that it was still Marko who suggested, earlier this week, that Webber's contract extension is only a formality and it is to be signed in the next few days. Unless the Aussie changes his mind about that No 2 status...
