Real Bikes for Real Men from Aprilia

We’ve seen vehicle makers poking fun at the competition before, but we have to admit that this is still entertaining. This time, it’s Aprilia’s turn to show the world why should customers by their products instead of Ducati’s and the like, through a funny video commercial that surfaced the web these days.

As you’ll see in the video, the main competitor targeted is Ducati, whose bikes are not only more expensive than Aprilia’s, but are allegedly chosen mostly by posers. While emphasizing the fact that many riders are usually getting life by the handlebars for the ‘bad boy’ image it offers, Aprilia comes to offer ‘real bikes for real men.’

For example, one of the bikes that Aprilia has introduced this year is the Dorsoduro 1200. The new maxi motard comes fitted with ABS and Aprilia Traction Control (ATC). When active, the
system offers three different selectable traction control levels which adapt each of the bike's dynamic parameters to suit the personal needs and preferences of the rider.

With 130 hp at 8,700 rpm and a maximum torque of 83.0 lbs.-ft. (115 Nm) at 7,200 rpm, the V90 engine is paired with a new 2-into-1-into-2 exhaust system has been designed specifically for the bike that was made entirely from stainless steel.

Other technical features include radial Brembo calipers, hydraulic clutch, Ride by Wire with 3 different engine maps (Rain, Touring and Sport) and the Matrix instrument panel with on board computer.

Getting back to the commercial, you’ll see a poser getting ready to hit the road, eventually riding what appears to be a Ducati pocket bike with training wheels, stopping at a traffic light, where it meets a biker riding a Aprilia Dorsoduro motorcycle.

The concept of the video, however, resembles a similar one released by Yamaha in 2009, which you can take a look at below Aprilia’s one.
