They say too much social media is a bad thing, but not in this particular situation: Abdullah Alfahim, a Dubai-based social media influencer and millionaire, will soon be reunited with his Lamborghini Aventador LP760-2 thanks to Instagram.
Created by Oakley Design, only 5 RWD Aventadors were ever made, so Alfahim has never made a secret of how proud he is to own one. Similarly, he’s never made a secret of taking it with him whenever he traveled to Europe, and this offered the thieves a window of opportunity.

Just recently, Alfahim traveled from Dubai to Cannes. He documented the trip on his Instagram and other social media accounts, so when he planned to go to London, he wasn’t surprised that a company reached out to him offering to ship the Lambo for him.

“The so-called company picked up my car from Intercontinental Hotel in Cannes. A day before I flew to London, the man called me and said the Lamborghini will be at the hotel in London in one hour,” Alfahim tells the Khaleej Times. “He blocked my number after that, and I never heard from him again.”

After repeated attempts to contact the man he had spoken to (who, it turns out, had set a fake IG account to make initial contact), Alfahim finally understood he’d been duped – and that his rare supercar was gone.

He contacted the police and, meanwhile, spread the word of the theft on social media. Fellow influencers, followers and car enthusiasts and blogs helped to further spread the news, reporting sightings of the “white bull” whenever they could. It was found parked on a street in Warsaw.

The car traveled from France to Italy and then to Poland. According to Alfahim, it was then supposed to go to Russia and end up in Ukraine, but cops foiled those plans. Currently, it’s at the United Arab Emirates Embassy in Warsaw and one Polish man is in custody for stealing it. Alfahim is thinking of going there in person to retrieve it, since he won’t trust another company again with it.

“Posts on social media made it easier for the police to find my car and I cannot be more grateful to those who have helped spread the information,” he adds. “I would also like to thank Interpol and the Polish police for their hard work and extensive search.”
