Of all the things you can misplace, a black Range Rover Sport shouldn’t be on that list. Or any other car, for that matter. Somehow, someone “forgot” one such car on a beach in Suffolk and it was nearly washed away when the tide came.
Video of the car fully submerged in water has been posted online and is available at the bottom of the page. It took rescuers 2 different tries on separate days to get the vehicle out, as it had become stuck in the sand and was being pulled by strong currents out to sea.
It happened on Felixstowe beach in Suffolk, and as you can see, it drew quite a crowd. The car was spotted when it was nearly submerged completely in the water. The Daily Mail says that the first attempts to get it out failed when the tow trucks also became stuck in the mud.
Coastguards and workers returned on the next day, to a much larger crowd, and managed to take the car out of the water, at long last.
Perhaps the strangest part of the story is that no one came to claim it – and the incident happened late last week. For such an expensive vehicle it seems that its owner doesn’t miss it at all.
Authorities are still trying to find him or her, and determine why they would leave the car on the beach, especially knowing the tide was about to come in. After all, it was only a matter of luck that they were able to take the car out before it washed away to the sea altogether.
For the time being, police are not considering the possibility of the driver being in the car when the tide came in.
