The situation in Europe is becoming increasingly tense, and after Ford encountered some problems and production setbacks due to protests, PSA has not been spared. Now, 200 workers from their Aulnay factory are protesting the planned layoffs and closure of the plant, and production at the facility has been halted.
The closure of the Aulnay plant will be one of the contributing factors for the total number of layoffs they plan to make - some 8,000 workers will be sent home.

Yesterday, some 200 workers from the CGT union blocked the production line, and cars lay half finished, with the workers who were building them at the moment when production was stopped resting inside. They demand new jobs with permanent contracts, and early retirement at the age of 55.

According to a PSA spokesman, “There is a very, very little minority. Most people want to go back to work [although] some are still on strike. The ones on strike are opposed to the factory closing – they are really a minority who want to occupy the factory so this is why we are trying everything we can so others can work safely.
