Porsche Talks about Hybrid 911 Road Car

Porsche brags that it is the raciest automotive producers of all, with the company doing its best to translate the motorsport technology into its road cars. The carmaker is now giving us a video in which Hartmut Kristen, Head of Porsche Motorpsort talks about this tech transfer and gets behind the wheel of a Porsche time machine, looking at the future of racing.
For example, the executive explains how a 2009 MY RSR racer’s 4.0-liter engine was borrowed by the street-legal 911 GT3RS 4.0 (997 generation - the outgoing one).

As for the part with the future, Kristen used the Frankfurt Auto Show to strengthen the idea that road-going Porsches will be invaded by hybrid developments. We are assured that even though Porsche is working to develop a LMP1 top-tier endurance racer, the company will continue to also focus on GT racing,as this allows it to keep a contact between its racers and its road cars.

Engineers are learning a new lesson in this area with every mile of tack covered and, since Porsche is obsessed with being competitive, we’ll probably see the carmaker aiming at being the best in the sports car hybrid area, so, if you ask us, you’d better prepare for a revolution. The 911 may have been keeping its shape, but is internal organs might literally be shocked with the next generation.

Some might say that it is a little early to talk about that, since a new generation (991) of the rear-engined coupe has just been launched, but we have to remind them that there were many rumors indicating that the hybridization would start with this incarnation of the car.
