German automaker Porsche has released an 11-minute video that showcases the recently-introduced 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid. Aware that very few enthusiasts vew the plug-in hybrid as a true blue Porsche, the Germans want to assure their future customers that the new Panamera hybrid is built following Stuttgart’s classic recipe.
“We build sports cars. Always have done. The impulse to move forward, to be faster, to come first is therefore established deep in our genes - not only when it comes to crossing the finishing line, but also, especially, with new ideas. So it is normal for us to go in new directions,” Porsche says.

The 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid is powered by a new 3.0-liter V6 gasoline engine, a 70 kW electric motor and a 9.4 kWh lithium-ion battery for a total output of 410 bhp. The powertrain enables the four-door to reach 60 mph (96 km/h) from a standing start in only 5.5 seconds and a top speed of 167 mph (269 km/h).

The vehicle can cover up to 22 miles (35 km) in electric power alone, while Porsche claims it can return no less than 75.8 mpg US (3.1 liters/100 km / 91 mpg UK). CO2 emissions are estimated at only 71 g/km.
