Porsche is working on plenty of derivatives for the 992, now that the base Carrera has joined the Carrera S. And while these involve the Turbo, the GT3 and the Targa, to name just the ones spied so far, the GT1 is not on the list. In fact, Porsche hasn't brought back the GT1 badge, with its mid-rear-engined configuration, since the 996 generation.
Then again, if we check out the fiercest racing incarnation of the Neunelfer, namely the RSR, we'll notice that the engineers have shitched the position of the engine and the transmission for... a rear-mid-engined configuration.

The machine, which has came to life back in 2016 and has collected Le Mans laurels, was recently revised (here's its Goodwood debut), with the said layout obviously maintained.

Nevertheless, with the 996 GT1 having also received a street version (check out monster the monster drag racing), aficioandos are eager to see the return of this derivative.

And since the German automotive producer hasn't shown any intentions of bringing the GT1 back, the Internet has decided to take the matter into its own hands.

I am, of course, refering to the rendering realm, as we constantly get to enjoy pixel plays portraying new-age incarnations of the said label. So, here we are, talking about a render that shows us a 992 incarnation of the 911 GT1, with quite a bit of forged carbon being imagined.

Now, when such work usually surfaces, we're dealing with two or three angles at most. Nevertheless, Emre Husmen, the digital artist behind this, has gone a long way to ensure the 992 Porsche 911 GT1 is accurately portrayed.

In fact, the pixel wielder has generated a whole GT1 world on his Instagram account. So it all starts with design sketches, moves on to spyshots and them we get to see the car in the real world (even a Goodwood shot is portrayed), while multiple liveries are shown, such as the famous Hippie take.

Oh, and we also get a scale model, along with a roof box fitted to the Porscha, as if a vlogger had bought the car and added this accesory for extra views.

So if you feel the need to pinch yourself right now, you can skip it and stick to the GT1 day-dreaming state induced by the little universe we have here.
