The Cayenne is currently the only Porsche model that hasn’t received any significant change, but that is about to change soon. The Germans are working on the mid-cycle refresh fro their SUV. The engineers are currently close to the final development stage and we are here to show you how they roll. Literally.
The clip below brings us to the Nurburgring (where else?), with the track seeing Porsche’s engineers flog a Cayenne Turbo facelift prototype. Our favorite bit arrives around the ten-second mark, where we see the Cayenne’s torque vectoring in action.

Technically speaking

The revamp will not bring major changes under the hood of the Cayenne Turbo. The most important news will probably arrive for the Turbo S, which should match the revamped Panamera Turbo S’ output of 570 hp.

We’ll remind you that the more serious engine updates are going to take place lower in the range. This is where the Cayenne S will lose its naturally-aspirated V8 in favor of a twin-turbo 3.0-liter V6 offering the driver 420 hp.

Moreover, we’ll receive a 2015 Porsche Cayenne S E-Hybrid. This will use the 2014 Panamera S E-Hybrid’s petrol (supercharged V6)-electric powertrain delivering 426 hp. Sure, the advertised efficiency of 75 mpg (3l/100 km) is achieved in ideal conditions (for instance, when the battery if fully charged), but the real-world figures will still be mighty impressive.

A face to fascia view

The 2015 model year is set to give the Cayenne a set of angular elements, such as the one we’ve seen on other refreshed Porsche models, like the Cayman / Boxster GTS. It’s worth noting that, together with mildly redesigned light clusters, the changes will bring the Cayenne a bit closer to the Macan in terms of styling.

Cabin treatment

The interior is the area that’s going to benefit the least form this upgrade. The greatest change should be a new steering wheel. The current Cayenne asks buyers to choose between a paddle-gifted wheel and a multifunctional one that can also be heated. The SUV is expected to follow the Macan’s lead in offering an unit that combines these assets.

The debut

The 2015 Porsche Cayenne should arrive by the end of the year, which means that we’re likely to meet this in October, at the Paris Motor Show.
