Unless you've been living under a rock, you know that there are two off-road-focused super sports cars out. One of them is the Porsche 911 Dakar, and the other is the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato.
Both are based on their more mainstream siblings. They feature the same constructions, engines, and bodies, albeit with a rallying twist. They have dedicated suspensions with more travel, chunkier tires, underbody protection, widened bodies, and they are a bit more usable in the real world.

Mind you, the marketing machines would want you to think they're all about rallying, and they might just be. However, you'd need proper driving skills to push them to their limits on closed courses. And since the average Lamborghini and Porsche owner lacks them, they can always rest assured that their rides can clear some steep driveways and function better when the weather gets rough.

When it comes to sheer power, the balance tilts in favor of the Lambo. It uses a 601 hp (610 ps/449 kW) and 413 lb-ft (560 Nm) of torque 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10. The Huracan Sterrato has an all-wheel drive system, takes 3.4 seconds to sprint to 100 kph (62 mph), and has a top speed of 260 kph (approximately 160 mph).

Porsche's 911 Dakar makes use of a 473 hp (480 ps/353 kW) and 420 lb-ft (570 Nm) of torque 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine. It also boasts all-wheel drive, and according to the spec sheet, you're looking at 3.3 seconds to 100 kph (62 mph). The top speed, in this case, is 240 kph (150 mph). As a result, it is the slowest 911 in decades, albeit one of the most practical ones.

Only 1,499 units of the Lamborghini Huracan Sterrato will ever see the light of day, and this is the swansong of the fabulous V10-powered supercar, as its successor going hybrid and likely using a V8 with forced induction. The Porsche 911 Dakar will be made in 2,500 copies and will go down in history as a great successor to the iconic Safari.

Now, if you had to choose between the two, which one would get your seal of approval and, more importantly, your hard-earned cash? Can't decide which one is the better choice for you? Well, this is where Top Gear's comparison between the two should come in handy, as they recently got the chance to pin one against the other, and they filmed everything for web surfers to see.

At nine minutes long, the video embedded below is worth a look, as it might just help you decide if it is the 911 Dakar or the Huracan Sterrato that deserves your attention. But before scrolling down and clicking the play button, which of the two you'd get today? For me, it would probably be the jacked-up Huracan, as nothing beats having a great naturally aspirated mill wrapped in an exotic-looking package that bears the signature of Lamborghini.
