Porsche, along with Pininfarina, was in an awkward spot today. They launched a couple of important models – but it is entirely possible that nobody cared too much about them because Toyota featured the world premiere of the all-new 2024 Land Cruiser (Prado or 250, depending on the region).
No worries, we didn't miss the Pininfarina Pura Vision Concept that aims to give birth to a new type of vehicle – the e-LUV, which will premiere in front of a real audience during the upcoming Monterey Car Week. Nor did we fail to see the new Porsche 911 S/T special edition that has the GT3 RS engine and costs almost $300k!

Well, Porsche is celebrating 911's 60th anniversary with one more limited series, of course. But some people don't really care about the abundance of these special editions because, not long ago, they got the definitive model for their dream collection – the 911 Dakar. It's a mix of both worlds – sports cars and 4x4 off-roaders and will easily fulfill the dream of hooning your Porsche both on and off the beaten path.

Now, it's time to immerse ourselves in the imaginative realm of digital car content creators, as Sugar Chow, the virtual artist better known as sugardesign_1 on social media, has just paused his Chinese redesigns for a moment and gives us this Shooting Brake hoot. It's dubbed 'Porsche 911 Dakar Off-Road Wagon,' but we know that few groceries have space in the rear.

Instead, it would be better to call it a 4x4 Hot Hatch or an all-wheel drive Shooting Brake due to the fact that its inline-six engine is still placed behind the seats, not in front of them. However, we do appreciate the revised ride height, the additional black plastic body cladding, the massive fender flares, the glossy black elements, the roof rack with an aerodynamic roof box, as well as the general demeanor of an off-road freak.

This, by the way, is mainly owed to the use of beefy Fuchs-style black aftermarket off-road wheels shod in meaty all-terrain tires that seem friends with all things mud, grass, and rocks. Indeed, a 911 Dakar 'Wagon' is nonsense because of the rear-engine placement. But who cares? This thing looks entirely drivable on dunes, rocky terrain, mudslides, and all sorts of grin-inducing trails.

Oh, well, too bad it's just wishful thinking. Otherwise, I would have been the first to suggest another swap between the 3.0-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine of the 911 GTS and Dakar packing 473 hp and 570 Nm (420 lb-ft) with the 4.0-liter flat-six mill rocking 518 hp in the 992-series GT3 RS models. I know, I know, I should stop daydreaming at the office.
