Porsche is celebrating the 911’s 60th anniversary with one more special edition. It is the Porsche 911 S/T, the lightest 992, which is now powered by a GT3 RS engine and sports a manual gearbox. Enthusiasts, rejoice!
Only 1,963 examples will see the light of day. Porsche found inspiration in the 911 S from the 1960s and ‘70s.

It comes with a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six engine donated by the GT3 RS. It roars out 518 horsepower (525 PS) through a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission. Porsche advertises it as being the lightest 992 Porsche 911 on sale.

It is the first time the Stuttgart-based sports carmaker mates the 911 GT3 RS engine with a manual transmission. The powertrain’s rotating mass has been reduced by 23 pounds (10.4 kilograms) to keep weight under control.

Furthermore, the hood, roof, front fenders, and doors, as well as the rear axle and the shear panel are made of carbon fiber reinforced plastic.

The car rides on magnesium wheels and ceramic composite brakes. Porsche fitted it with lightweight glass to keep it slim. There is no rear steering either, because that would have made the car heavier. So deleting all the unnecessary, Porsche ended up with an S/T weighing only 3,056 pounds (1,386 kilograms), which is 70 pounds (32 kilograms) below the weight of the manual 911 GT3 Touring.

It is that engine, together with the weight savings, that makes it flash from 0 to 60 mph (97 kph) in 3.5 seconds, while the GT3 RS does the same stunt in 3.2 seconds. The needle of the odometer goes all the way to a top speed of 186 mph (300 kph).

The Germans are offering the limited-edition 911 S?T with a special historic livery. Meanwhile, customers will benefit from the advantages of the Heritage Design Package, which brings along the Shore Blue Metallic body color and Ceramic color for the wheels.

Future owners will be able to specify numbers from 0 to 99 for the roundels that will show up on both doors.

Carbon bucket seats are standard. The four-way-adjustable Sports Seat Plus is available at no extra charge, but it brings along extra weight, of course.

The instrument cluster and the clock of the Sport Chrono package display a classic green Porsche finish. All of the 911 S/T badging on board sports a gold finish.

The 1,963 future owners will also be offered exclusive watches. The Chronograph 1 - 911 S/T features an aluminum case and, just like the car, it is designed to be as light as possible and costs $13,500. Meanwhile, the car starts at $291,650, destination charge included. Deliveries in the United States should start in the spring of 2024.

The 2024 Porsche 911 S/T will show up at the Rennsport Reunion 7, starting September 28.
