Popular Mechanics Awards Ford

Popular Mechanics Magazine held yet another awards ceremony in which they showed appreciation for innovative ideas and new models in the auto industry. Ford was this year's big winner, as the car manufacturer won three awards.

Ford's sweep of three categories in this year's awards speaks to the onslaught of great products coming from Dearborn,” said Ben Stewart, automotive editor, Popular Mechanics.

The ceremony awarded Ford’s Mustang Shelby GT500 in the Performance category, Transit Connect in the Workhorse category and F-150 SVT Raptor in the Off-Road Ability category. Derrick Kuzak, group vice president, Global Product Development, Ford Motor Company, accepted the awards on behalf of the Ford team.

This important recognition reflects the strength and diversity of the Ford product lineup,” said Kuzak. “From a performance car to a workhorse vehicle to an off-road pickup, Ford is building quality products that people really want.

Award winners are very hard to determine at Popular Mechanics, as editors travel the world and use the cars for thousands of miles in order to find out all their good and bad points. Months of research later, the teams nominates a list of cars for each category, then take a vote on the winner.

The process sounds a lot more complicated than most of the car related awards all over the planet, so winning a Popular Mechanics award is a really big deal. And winning 3 is even better.
