It’s been a successful summer for the 26-year-old golfer who managed to reach a career high 5th in the Official World Golf Ranking following his victory in the Scottish Open. Work hard, play hard - this seems to be the drill with Rickie Fowler too, considering he changes cars after each victory.
As if the silver Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S wasn’t good enough, Fowler was fortunate to get the new 2016 Mercedes-Benz G63. And when we say new, we mean the recent facelift the G-Class has received. Unlike the G550 (G500 outside of the US) which had the 5.5-liter V8 dropped, however, the changes in the G63 AMG are not as big.

Before we look into what Fowler has just received from the German automaker who is sponsoring him, we’d like to mention a couple of more details about the facelift.

While the old model developed 382 horsepower, the 2016 G550/G500 delivers 416 HP and 450 lb-ft (610 Nm) of twist. This enhancement does count quite a lot, considering the new 0 to 60 mph (96 km/h) sprint now takes 5.7 seconds.

Now, back the orange beast in question. The changes may not be huge, but you shouldn’t worry, no model has been power-discriminated. The 2016 G63 AMG’s 5.5-liter twin-turbo V8 received a muscle premium of 27 HP to 563 HP and 560 lb-ft (760 Nm) of torque, about enough to make your girl shiver when the pedal hits the metal.

Sure, we could all act surprised, but we know that the orange off-roader is not just a regular gift luxury automakers sometimes make to famous people so they could better promote their new models. Note, Mercedes-Benz is one of Fowler’s biggest sponsors. Therefore, he gets a new car every six months or so.

However, judging by his recent records - having won the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open on the European Tour, and, more recently, the Deutsche Bank Championship - he might as well be among the first buyers.
