There is something about golf and luxury cars these days. They have all the premium competitions revolving around these astonishing sportscars winners receive as a prize; we’re talking about $100k+ worth four-wheelers. It almost feels like we should start training on the course on the weekends. The latest to enjoy the game is Rickie Fowler, who will be cruising around in this beautiful silver Mercedes-Benz AMG GT S.
How do we know it’s his? We don’t, but judging by Mercedes-Benz's Instagram post we can’t but assume it’s a sponsorship the Germans are running. Even though we’re not that well acquainted with the ball sport, we do know that the 2015 United States Open Championship is right around the corner. Scheduled to be played June 18-21 at Chambers Bay in University Place, Washington, Rickie Fowler will also be among the participants.
Having Formula One’s latest Safety Car at his disposal will most likely help the young golfer enhance his game. After all, we are talking about a front-mid mounted 4-liter twin-turbo V8 that is quite the beast. As if the GT wasn’t enough already, the S takes strength up to 503 horsepower, about enough to consider the 2-seater sports worthy.
It’s no surprise Fowler is happy with his new ride, even if he’ll eventually have to send it back. Last time we checked his auto-style, about two years ago, things were a bit different. We’ll remind you that he’s daily commuter was a 1966 MINI Cooper S, he had refreshed with a blacked-out look. We’re not saying old-school doesn’t do the job, but the AMG GT S clearly is a game changer.
