Why would anyone want to put together a collection of supercars and then crush the machines with bulldozers why a whole country is watching? Well, some policies are easier to digest than other and when it comes to the Philippines president's way of dealing with vehicle smuggler, one needs nerves of steel to deal with it.
The country's leader, Rodrigo Duerte is extremely strict when it comes to fighting illegal vehicle imports. The politician has decided that such machines, be they cars. motorcycles or other contraptions, need to be destroyed, with the result being the automotive equivalent of public executions.

As such, Duerte organizes periodic destruction sessions, which he personally attends. And an episode of the sort took place recently, with this being documented in the images above.

According to the local media, €4.5 million ($5.28 million at the current exchange rates) of machines were ruined during the event. As you'll notice in the photos, the list of destroyed vehicles involves supercars like the Lamborghini Gallardo and the Porsche 911 Turbo. The vehicles were simply run over by heavy machinery, with this quickly turning them into piles of metal and plastic.

Why aren't the vehicles auctioned off, for instance?

The idea behind this policy is that any form of selling the illegal vehicle would still bring benefits to those who smuggle them.

As you can easily imagine, such actions are controversial, to say the least, with those opposing them pointing out that efforts to establish a non-destructive system could be made and that the president prefers to ignore these since the current practice raises awareness.

Unfortunately for the go-fast jewels, there are no clues that the situation will change anytime soon. Thus, we're expecting to see at least one other crushing session of the sort by the end of the current year.
