Peugeot Re-Generation Teaser: It's the 208

Peugeots strike us as cars designed and built in China that end up on European roads lacking the French touch they are supposed to have. However, this isn’t true for the new 4008 crossover based on the Mitsubishi ASX, so there’s still hope for the lion brand.
A recently released teaser video called “Peugeot: Get ready for re-generation” speaks a whole lot of meaningless French talk, but it does briefly show a sketch of what appears to be a sub-compact hatchback, which will be officially revealed next week, on November 2nd.

The only completely new car we’re waiting on is the 208, a replacement for the 207. This was originally said to debut around next year’s Paris Auto Show, so maybe this is just a concept version.

Thanks to the partnership with BMW Group, we should see a completely new range of engines arriving under the bonnet. The new 208 will also get a small three-cylinder petrol for the entry-level version. There’s even talk of a GTi version that uses the same 1.6-liter as the Cooper S and Citroen DS3 Racing, producing about 200 hp.

Of course, we could be wrong, and this could be the 308 facelift that uses the same design language as the 508, but given the fact that the designers in the video talk mainly about new features, like a unique steering wheel, it’s unlikely.
