Peugeot 508 RXH Limited Edition Sold Out

Peugeot is rightfully putting all its eggs in the hybrid diesel basket, as all 300 of the 508 RXH Limited Edition special series have been sold in just three day. Reservation books were opened on September the 13th, as the 2011 Frankfurt Auto Show was opening.
All cars were sold via the dealer network or on the Internet across 12 European countries: Germany, Austria, Belgium, Spain, France, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, United Kingdom and Switzerland.

The French carmaker was right in banking on added luxury feel and exclusive features for a limited production run of its hybrid, as this way they don’t have to deal with the affected market image when you can’t keep up with demand on a green car.

Peugeot seems to make no excuses with this one, as the starting price in France is €48,950 ($66,779). This limited series brings a better finish with an Alcantara leather interior, heated electric memory seats, hands-free ignition, quad-zone automatic climate control, Hi-Fi JBL pack, Xenon headlights, motorized tailgate, numbered aluminum plate, special dashboard decor and 18″ forged aluminum rims.

The 508 RXH is an all-road version of the regular 508 and sports the French company’s new diesel-electric hybrid powertrain. This 2.0-liter HDi-based unit was first introduced in the limited-production 3008 HYbrid4. The engine itself provides a total of 165 horsepower, with an additional 37 coming from an electric motor.

The powertrain is also a breakthrough in CO2 emissions, as it only emits 109 grams per 100 kilometers, a figure that is about 30 percent better than a conventional engine of comparable size. There’s also a ZEV 100% electric mode where the car burns no fuel, but in regular conditions consumption is rated at 4.2 l/100km (70.6 mpg).
