While Peugeot’s 301 is not in the same low-cost league as the Dacia Logan, and it is not a direct competitor for it, PSA are hoping to boost their profits and get a share of the low-cost market. The 301 is based on the 208 hatchback, yet it lacks that car’s high quality interior, and many of its high-tech features.
It was conceived as a sedan as emerging markets seem to prefer the extra carrying capacity offered by this body type. On November 1st, it went on sale in Turkey, with Eastern Europe, Africa and South America soon to follow, within the next few months.

According to David Rio, director of Peugeot’s international operations, they "want to attack these new markets," as they "have a vehicle of conquest, and have great faith and hope." This statement alone shows just how important the 301 is to Peugeot, and after having seen one in the metal ourselves, we say it is a lot of car for the money, with a decent interior, nice overall shape and modern engines.
