Being on a yacht and cruising to remote locations is a true expression of joy, a rich experience that can overwhelm anyone with an adventurous spirit. When thinking about yachting, most people imagine those mammoth luxury motor yachts that only the billionaires of the planet can afford, but the truth is you can also enjoy cruising in exhilarating fashion, full comfort and privacy in a miniature superyacht without sacrificing luxury.
Take, for instance, the new Pershing GTX116, the latest addition to the Italian shipbuilder's fleet of super-fast luxury sports yachts that are said to not only sail but fly over the water and offer a unique experience doused in style, unbeatable comfort, and elegance.

The GTX116 made its debut at the Cannes Yachting Festival 2023 last weekend and managed to steal the hearts of many. The 115.6-foot (35.2-meter) sport utility yacht was designed as a livable cruiser on the sea and touted as a masterpiece of cutting-edge naval design, defined by its sporty attitude, high performance, and opulent modern interiors meant to offer guests onboard comfort and extreme liveability.

Pershing is a brand of the world-renowned Ferretti Group, a shipbuilding company with unparalleled know-how and impeccable standards. The new GTX116 is the result of a successful collaboration between the Ferretti Group Product Strategy Committee led by Piero Ferrari, the design team spearheaded by Fulvio De Simoni, and the Group's Engineering Department.

Apart from its strikingly sporty appearance, the sport utility yacht stands out from the crowd with a sleek Montecarlo gray hull, a color that was specifically chosen as a nod to its Gran Turismo influences, extensive glazing, and large flowing indoor-outdoor spaces that make for comfortable onboard living. For the first time, Pershing has used elements produced using 3D printing technology in the yacht's design, such as the ventilation grills and the windshield visor. The use of this innovative technology has helped them obtain subtly unconventional geometries.

The flagship of the new GTX series of performance yachts, the GTX116 boasts a streamlined profile that embodies the sporty DNA of the Pershing brand. According to the company, this new design aims to redefine the concept of Sport Utility Yacht by blending elegance and performance.

The two-deck vessel has a main deck and an upper sportfly, connected via two stairways built into the superstructure. The 26-foot (80-meter) beam allows for generous internal volumes, with common areas and accommodation decks that radiate luxury and style, and ample open spaces for fully enjoying the sun and the sea. There are no less than 1,776 square feet (165 square meters) of outdoor space, comprising a large beach club, the sundeck that includes a second helm, and the stern garage that can host a jet ski and a tender of over 16.4 feet (5 meters).

The sportbridge is one of the innovations that the Pershing GTX116 brings to the sport superyacht segment. This generous deck is partially covered by a carbon fiber hard top, and guests can take advantage of a fully equipped bar area with seating built into the main structure. The exterior helm station is positioned forward on the deck and has three sports seats that allow guests a hands-on experience.

The seamless transition between outdoor and indoor areas highlights the increased focus on al fresco living and adaptability. The main deck, which spans two levels, includes the beach club on the first floor, while the second level comprises the cockpit with panoramic views and the main saloon overlooking the seascape.

The 420-square-foot (39-square-meter) beach club can be configured as one spacious waterfront entertainment area or divided into a separate swim platform and a sundeck area.

The cockpit, meanwhile, is furnished with a sofa, dining table, and bar, creating a nice social space. It is directly connected to the open space of the main saloon, which also includes an L-shaped sofa, armchairs, a galley kitchen, and a dining area for up to ten guests. A lateral sliding door opens onto a terrace, providing breathtaking sea views.

Various of these elements can be customized based on the owner's preferences, demonstrating the versatility of the design. For instance, the galley is transformable, so owners can decide to turn it into a show kitchen with bar counter. An external balcony can also be added, with access through the window on the port gunwale.

The GTX116 features a flexible five-cabin layout, with the accommodations positioned on the lower deck. The full beam owner's suite can be found amidships and is accompanied by two double cabins and two twins, all with ensuite bathrooms. As for crew accommodation, their quarters are forward on the lower deck and comprise three cabins, a pantry, and a laundry.

For owners who prefer to have an additional saloon on the lower deck, an alternative layout is available in which one of the guest cabins is replaced by an intimate common area.

In terms of propulsion, the new Pershing GTX116 sport utility yacht comes with a triple waterjet propulsion system that can be paired with three 2,000 hp MAN V12 engines that endow it with a top speed of 34 knots (39 mph or 63 kph) and a cruising speed of 29 knots (33 mph or 54 kph). In standard configuration, it will have 1800 hp engines.

The first hull in the new series was baptized Caffeine and made its debut at the Monaco Grand Prix 2023. The second GTX116 model was launched in July this year, while a speculative third hull is scheduled to be delivered in early 2024.
