Opel Releases Corsa Dedicated to Germany's National Football Team

Opel has released a limited edition version of its Corsa supermini dedicated to the German national soccer team. Germany has qualified for the final tournament of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa that will kick of in Johannesburg’s Soccer City Stadium on June 11th.

As expected, the Corsa Football Championship Edition is reserved only for the German market. The car features the traditional colors of the country’s soccer team, combining a white paintjob with stripes in Germany’s flag colors that run from the hood to the rear quarter window and also cover the exterior mirrors. The special edition Corsa also gets a set of 17-inch alloy wheels finished in black, dark tinted headlights and taillights.

On the inside, the Corsa Football Championship Edition gets sport seats, aluminium pedals, leather steering and center console finished in piano black. Standard equipment include air conditioning, stereo radio CD with steering wheel controls, electric windows and central locking with remote control.

Prices for the Opel Corsa Football Championship Edition start from EUR15,160 for the gasoline 1.4-liter Ecotec model, which has 87 horsepower. At the World Cup in South Africa, Germany will play in Group D, where they will play their three first round matches against Australia, Serbia and Ghana.

Another German manufacturer that dedicated a car to a football team is Audi, with its Bayern Munchen A1 model that will be shown in Worthersee. The car has the number 10 of FC Bayern star Arjen Robben on the roof and on the doors, the large logo of Germany's most successful soccer club on the hood, the restyled front bumper and a modified diffuser in the back.
