"We are pleased that one of the strongest industry players in Israel, the Shlomo group, will represent the Opel brand in the future," says Michael Klaus, Executive Director, International Operations. "Israel plays an important role in our export initiative. With our attractive new products like the Insignia and Astra we will re-position the Opel brand in the Israeli market."

The Shlomo Group is one of the leading Israeli holding groups, with its business covering areas like: automotive, energy, telecom, ports & maritime, logistics, insurance and real estate. The company was established in 1974 by Shlomo Shmeltzer, the Group owner and chairman, starting as a car rental company. Over the years of its existence, the company has managed to increase the level of customer esteem.

The relaunch of the brand in Israel is an important step to strengthen Opel’s presence in growth markets. Opel is preparing to enter more export markets, among them countries in the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and South America. The company expects excellent growth opportunities in those markets,” stated the press release, underlining Opel’s expansion intentions.
