Opel's trendiest car, the Adam mini, is now cheaper to drive around in than ever, since the Russelsheim carmaker has just announced a new Adam 1.4 LPG ecoFLEX model. Like other ecoFLEX models they sell, this one has separate gas tanks, which makes it a bi-fuel car that can run on whatever your like or can find at one particular moment.
While running on petroleum gas, the 1.4-liter engine makes 87 PS (64 kW) instead of te usual 100 it would have offered. On average, it consumes 6.9 liters of the cheaper fuel per 100 kilometers.
Thanks to a 35 liter LPG tank located under the luggage compartment, the Adam can for 500 kilometers. In bi-fuel mode with activated gasoline tank, up to 1,200 km are possible.
This is Opel's 10th LPG model, after the Corsa (three and five-door), Astra (five-door and Sports Tourer), Meriva and Zafira Tourer as well as the new Insignia (four and five-door sedans, Sports Tourer).
The GM sub-brand is not alone in this. A bi-fuel version of the VW Up! is produced in the Czech republic, while Fiat has also adopted LPG on all its smaller cars.
Prices in Germany start at 16,150 euros (RRP incl. VAT in Germany).
