One-off USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang Raises $398,000 for Charity

The one-of-a-kind US Air Ford Thunderbirds Edition 2014 Ford Mustang, which was revealed a month ago, sold for $398,000 at the Gathering of Eagles charity auction earlier this week.

The unique vehicle was donated by Ford and all proceeds from the sale will benefit the EAA Young Eagles program, which has provided free introductory flights to more than 1.6 million young people since 1992.

Gifted with a VIN 0001 identification number, the one-off musclecar was painted to resemble the F-16 Falcon jet fighters used by the US Air Force Thunderbirds, a renowned flight demonstration team. The vehicle features a supercharge, a suspension handling pack and Brembo brakes, all supplied by Ford Racing Parts.

Inside, the USAF Thunderbirds Edition Mustang was equipped with a bespoke navigation screen and instrument cluster, embroidered Thunderbirds elements, unique sill and puddle lamps, while the rear seats have been deleted.

In recent years, Ford auction vehicle have raised more than $2.5 million to support the EAA Young Eagles program.
