The fate of what is arguably the most famous circuit on the planet is still to be decided, as more and more unknowns have started to pop out in recent weeks.
After ADAC's rather low bid from about two weeks ago to buy the track was rejected, specifically because the bid was apparently just for the modern F1 circuit and not the entire thingamajibs that were built as part of a failed Nurburgring amusement park.
These include a museum, a shopping mall and even a rollercoaster, part of an investment with multiple zeros.
Today, another - quite a bit more impressive - offer surfaced online according to the Nordschleife aficionados at BridgeToGantry.
Global investment and advisory firm La Tene Capital has apparently bid no less than EUR 275 million. It seems that the high-ball bidding offer is including the grand prix track, the old Green Hell and all the other ancillaries that come with it, but we're expecting more details about the matter in the following days.
UPDATE: Apparently, the EUR 275 million bid is nothing but horseplay, as BridgeToGantry has found more details about a German man behind the investment and advisory firm, and he might actually be a scam artist who has been using a number of aliases over the years and is even wanted by US customs and the Florida Police.
