Nissan has just unboxed the 2025 Kicks right outside the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, ahead of the opening round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament, with one week left to go to the 2024 New York International Auto Show. The model comes with new tech and optional all-wheel drive.
Hours after the final teaser, the virtual unboxing of the new generation involved a larger-than-life, digital 3D “shoebox” containing the new Nissan Kicks and making it look like a sneaker. The car will be on display inside the Barclays Center between Friday, March 22, and Sunday, March 24. So those who attend the game can see it at the Kicks Unboxing booth for the very first time.

Marisstella Marinkovic, vice president and chief marketing officer of Nissan US, explains that the carmaker is trying to align with the consumer passions at pivotal touchpoints and showcasing the new products to the right audiences. Nissan is an official partner of the 2024 March Madness tournament.

The model will also make it to the 2024 New York International Auto Show from March 27 through April 7. Before that happens, let's dig in.

The car comes with upgraded tech and restyling, while Nissan credits it with best-in-class standard ground clearance at 8.4 inches (213 millimeters) and best-in-class standard cargo space, except for EVs.

The Kicks grew in every direction. It measures 171.9 inches (4,366 mm) in length, 70.9 inches (1,801 mm) in width, and 64-64.2 inches (1,626-1,631 mm) in height. Different wheelbase lengths show up between the front-wheel and all-wheel drive versions: 104.6 inches (2,657 mm) for the front-wheel drive and 104.9 inches (2,664 mm) for the four-wheel drive version.

Nissan claims that the 2025 Kicks is similar to the brightly colored and boldly shaped sneakers seen on the court at Barclays Center.

A dual 12.3-inch display shows up on board the crossover, offering Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. There are up to four USB Type C ports on board, as well as wireless charging.

The model became more spacious than its predecessor. The model can also be specced with a power panoramic sunroof.

New for the Kicks is the now-available Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which puts an ace up the sleeve of the model in a segment where crossovers usually feature front-wheel drive.

The model also gets a new naturally aspirated 2.0-liter inline-four engine, linked to the Xtronic automatic transmission. It generates 139 horsepower (141 metric horsepower) and 140 pound-feet (190 Newton meters) of torque.

That marks quite a power boost of 17 horsepower (17 Newton meters) and 26 pound-feet (36 Newton meters) compared to the 1.6-liter engine of the previous generation. The future owners will have a Snow driving mode, coming to confirm that the all-wheel drive new-gem Nissan Kicks is not to be ignored when it comes to rough driving conditions.

The 2025 Nissan Kicks will arrive at dealerships across the United States and Canada late this summer. Pricing will be announced closer to the launch date.
