Nissan Leaf sales have oscillated from good to very poor in stages, since its launch, yet the Japanese automaker is saying that so far they’ve sold 42,700 of them, worldwide. This really goes to show that a fully-electric car is feasible for mass production and marketing, and it can be made to appeal to people, who will buy it.
According to Plug in Cars, who cited Nissan’s Chief Operating Officer, Toshiyuki Shiga, of the total number some 19,000 units were sold in Japan alone. However, sales are set to increase, as just last month, they unveiled their first global ad campaign, which touted the Leaf as being a true all-round solution for not only driving in town, but also powering your home, as analyzed here.

In the US Leaf sales had been lagging for a few months, yet now they are back on track, with 1,579 units sold in October. This represents a 76% increase over October of 2011, and has been declared the second-best sales month it has ever had, in the US.
