Up until this point, it was believed that Nissan would build its C-segment car to rival the VW Golf at its main factory in Sunderland in Britain, where the Juke and Qashqai are made.
However, the Japanese carmaker today announced the car would actually be assembled at their facility in Barcelona, Spain, following an investment of €110 million specifically for this model.

Production o 80,000 units per year is scheduled to begin in July 2014. The new assembly line will result in the creation of 1,000 direct jobs, with an 3,000 being created indirectly through the supply and distribution chain.

“I have the pleasure of sharing with you the fruits of the competitiveness agreement reached last week, which have opened the door to new production opportunities. The most important thing now is to be able to ensure the successful launch of these products and keep the competitiveness commitment. If we do, I am sure new opportunities will come.”
